discoloration on leave coming from the stem

Hi All,

My leaves seem to be turning brown, but only in the middle coming from the stem. The main stem is not brown. This is only happening with the oldest leaves on the plant.

Any Ideas on what may be causing this? ...maybe too much or not enough of a certain nutrient? The PH in the reservoir is a steady 5.6 - 5.8. The temps are around 89 - 91 when the lights are on and 77 - 80 when the lights are off. Thanks.

I was hoping that it might be something like that. Two weeks ago I took down my CFLs and added a 600 watt MH conversion bulb to my hydro set-up. The plants have really taken off since then. Thanks for the info!!
