seeds Do I need to treat seeds?

Im picking off peppers of my plants and I was wondering if i planned on keeping the seeds or selling them, what would I have to do? Do I just picked them off the pepper and store them or should they be left to dry a little bit?

They need to dry more than just a little bit!
They need to dry alot! Put the seeds on a paper plate and let them sit for several days .

first thing to do is to isolate  the flowers
you will get seeds from to keep you from
being the vendor who sells habs as bhuts and all
please try some isolation strategy before you start
"SELLING" who knows what

the typical fleabay seed vendor is looked down upon here

do not do that to your reputation

i currently only have once type of plant so it cant get mixed up

but it will be a different story in 6 more months :hell:

plus. i was a victim of pepper fraud. i will never do such thing to a fellow chilihead

You can get premature seeds from unripened pods, and sometimes if you pick the pod unripe and let it ripen off the plant!
But generally a fully ripened pepper will have mature seeds.

I dry mine on a dehydrator at a very low temp, and that can take days!

So on a paper plate I would give them at least a week.

IMO, you don't need to treat seeds if you have had no virus or bacterial infections of your parent plants...

oh, i see because you have "only one" you are good to go?

the thing is (if)you do not control your pollination helpers
they can bring pollen from 'unsavory'(taint) sources.

see the article you linked says:

"Almost all known species of chile plants will self-pollinating. However, with the aid of insects, they are also very promiscuous - readily cross pollinating with other species of chile. This cross pollination may result in viable seed. Cross pollination within the same species is almost certain to result in viable, and very vigorous, hybrids. "

so invoking Murphy's Law,
how sure are you to get undesirable
reputation tarnishing hybrids from what you believe to be pure seed?
