I've always thought that the pod tissue and growth pattern 'should' be 100% derived from the genetics of the parent plant.
(However I just found that, in mammals, the placental DNA is the same as that of the child. Don't know about plants - still searching...)
I am fairly certain that each seed within the pods is fertilized by a grain of pollen, which could have come from the parent plant, or a neighbor.
