Doing a bit of head banging

I let my youngest two kids talk me into going to a concert last weekend. Little heavy for my taste, or so I thought, but I ended up having a ball! I freaking love live music. I had never heard of the first two bands, In this Moment and Seven Dust but was familiar with the two Headliners Disturbed and Korn. In This Moment really bombed but after them it just got better and better. By the time Disturbed came on I was screaming and banging my head with the best of them. Almost four hours of metal madness and we drove home happy happy happy.

They're coming to Omaha in March, may have to go again.

Any good shows coming to your neighborhood?

Actually, Korn is from Fresno/Clovis here, but I've never seen them. I'm an old rocker from the late 60s/70 (hippie days) that headbanging stuff is a bit much for me, kinda like what my folks thought of Led Zepplin, Iron Butterfly, Cream or Hendricks

Sounds awesome Patrick.Great way to bond with the kids , I am a parrothead type of guy. But, I love me some Korn. did they do Twist? (my fav)
My kid is into rap,, it drives me nuts , but if I said I liked it he would prolly drop it like a rock! :)

A lot of starter bands bomb but the good news is they only get better with practice....you hope; sounds like you had a great time - the kids are probably looking at you in a different way. You'll want to go back and see the groups and by then the kids will have moved on to a different group and this one will be old news. I don't even try to keep up with my girls, I just know Lady Googoo is not allowed.

I remember going to see Gordon Lightfoot live with my wife and I remember looking around at the audience and the parents with their children of all ages, many keeping a list of which songs he played, they were Lightfoot freaks. He music was magical but then again he is an icon.

I also saw Queen and Freddy Mercury, well what more can you say, that voice and Brian May is one of the best guitarist ever - I think he makes his own chords!

The negative experience was when Joe Jackson opened for the Who(one of their many last tours), I don't know what Joe was thinking but he was playing stuff no one ever heard, the sound was off and i remember someone in the front row bounded a hotdog off him. He packed up and walk off the stage, i think we then had almost a 3 hour wait until the Who played, that was painful.

Alice Cooper was entertaining.

Awesome Pat.....Sevendust are one of my fav's. Saw them live headlining a few years back with Project 86, Either Seed & Finger Eleven opening for them. You old hardcore devil......wouldn't surprise me if you got in on the mosh pitting  That's great that you let your kids involve you in something like that especially when alot would not. They will be telling friends and loved ones later in life the "time dad went to a rock concert with us" story. Glad you all had such a great time Mr. M. Later bro

I likes me some Seven Dust. But Im a big Disturbed fan. I listened to them before they even had an album out yet. Then I got a chance to go to a free concert they put on in Virginia Beach, VA. Like maybe 400-500 people. (Spineshank opened. Like them as well.) They had a girl in the front that was showing the band her ta-ta's. Well, after she was done doing that, guys kept trying to rip her shirt off. (She had GREAT ta-ta's!) The band stopped and said that they are putting on a FREE concert, so if they didn't stop treating that girl like that, they were going to leave. The guys stopped, the girl got down, and she got to go backstage afterwards to meet the band. And no, not for anything "extra!"

Nice Patrick, good on ya for gettin out with em! The "Big 4" show is gonna be going on out in Indio Apr. 23rd, and I know somebody with a few VIP passes. Not all access backstage or whatever VIP passes, but some deal about a RV, food, beer, etc Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax. Haven't heard the last two since junior high, lol. Could get in, but gotta pick my battles with the wife, only can get out now and then as young as my kids are, and my best friend just bought a fishing boat...
