DrEMHmrk2 - Florida Peppers

I've got 3 plants growing right now, I have to keep things manageable due to my schedule, so I'm taking it easy right now.

I've got a jalapeno hybrid going, a cheyenne and then this strange hybrid which shows amazing corcking.

These bad boys are all pushing out peppers right now, not seeming to be slowing down at all.

Here's a picture of the unknown hybrid which displays corking:

I plan to take some seeds from this plant to continue it, as I just LOVE the way the peppers look.

Looks like a jalapeno with corking to me. Not too strange for a jalapeno to cork like that. Has to do with humidity, heat, stress, and watering schedule if i'm not mistaken. Maybe someone else will chime in with more info for ya. Just trying to help! :lol:

Did you guys get a lot of rain in broward the last few days? I'm over in kendall and have noticed my peppers have been liking the weather this month.

Well, the last week of October, we had about an inch total. And then so far this month, another inch, so 2 full inches in 2 weeks, rather decent.

I figure some area in Broward county get more/less rain than others, due to proximity to the beach or the everglades.
 
Ahhh, so I have the fever I suppose, because over the weekend I went to a local nursery who has a large selection of interesting peppers and I bought another 8 pepper plants! And as if that wasn't enough, I just placed an order for 6 different cultivars, including the mythic bhut jolokia, aji lemon and some Pablanos.

Now I'm getting super excited!

I love this nursery where I've been getting these peppers because they have been coming home with tons of peppers getting ready to ripen and each plant has had like 12 to 20 buds, just waiting to start new pods.

It's sort of cheating, compared to you over-wintering, cutting-cloning, hydroponic mad scientists. :dance:

It's amazing, eating food from your own yard. We have some lettuce growing and then theres these peppers and cucumbers growing, and some basil.

Also I had some seeds arrive from the chilipepper institute in new mexico, so I'll be enjoying some aji limons and some bhut jolokias in no time :flamethrower:
 
It looks to me like your myetery pepper might be a Tam Jalapeno. They look like a regular jalapeno but are more rounded on the ends kind of like a roma tomato shape. They taste like jalapenos but are milder in heat.
