Looks like you and Duane are going to have a busy year:) Happy gardening

Lol Derek, you got that right! :) I'll try to remember to post the plantation on the driveway when it gets in full swing. It's pretty impressive the way he grows things in a small space.

Ciao Nate-

Well, here's how it looked last year in July:

And then in September, he had platters like this to deal with:

Yes indeedy, those are kiddie wading pools we use as giant saucers. As far as container gardening goes, this works extremely well, especially during the dog days of summer when it's just about impossible to keep up with the water needs. D just runs the hose in there until there's a few inches of water in the bottom and the containers just suck it up.

That's almost like cheating LOL! What a great idea.

* Makes note to look for kiddie pools in the neighborhood :)*

Ciao DownRiver-

We got ours at Toys R Us but if you're fortunate to get in on some good yard sales, that's another place to look. These have lasted several years.

Ciao all-

Ok, time to post some photos of Duane's early seedlings. These were taken on 23 Feb:

Rocoto Red

Bonda ma Jacques - Derek, this one came up insanely fast! I'm super excited about how this one does!

Zavory

Hot Paper Lantern - powders made with this one are phenomenal

Zavory022310.jpg

NuMex Sunrise - you can really see how fast the Annums take off as compared to the Chinenses and Pubescens here

All of his stuff from flat #1 is up and transplanted now, but not all are as big as these. He's getting germination from flat #2 now.

Ciao all-

More seedling photos to share with you. Seeds were sown 24 Jan and photos taken 8 Mar.

Bonda ma Jacques

Long Chocolate Habanero - experts let me know if this leaf form looks correct for this variety - also, he had some curling leaves last year with some of his seedlings and they seemed to grow out of it so I'm not hugely concerned about this

Douglah

Fatalii - I'm so happy this one's healthy this year - last year it was his only variety lost to damp-off

Fatalii030810.jpg

Rocoto Red - family Pubescens - I really like the furry leaves on this one

Lemon Drop - family Baccatum - my personal favourite for making into powders

The rest of the larger seedlings are all Annums. A few look like they could use a little bit of human help to deal with some yellowing leaves. I think the problem with that is more a lack of watering attention than nutrients so my first thought is to leave them be and just take the yellowed leaves off or let them fall off as long as the new growth is healthier.

Albino Bullnose

Alma Paprika

Anaheim TMR

Bulgarian Carrot - first to show buds

NuMex Sunrise

I forgot to take a photo of NuMex Sunset, his largest seedling because it had to be moved lower so it didn't bump into the lights - will do that later

NuMex Twilight

Orange Thai

Pimiento de Padrone

Serrano - 1 of many plants

Serrano4030810.jpg

Sweet Pickle - note the big wonky leaf like a crab with one big claw

Everything else is pretty small and only interesting to us right now. I'll post photos of those as they get larger.

great looking plants....absolutely great...

on the one with the curlin' leaves, do you use any epsom salt foliar feed?...if not, try it, I think you will like the results...

my favorite one is the very first picture...fantastic looking plant
