shopping DWC setup, which to buy

im looking at getting a dwc, but cant figure out which is better.

I see two big differences, some have a water pump that sits inside the bucket (in the water), and others use a pump used for fish aquariums that sit outside of the bucket and only run an airline in.

It seems like the later would be safer (electric shock, fire etc).

any suggestions or thoughts?

it looks like there is also a "drip" setup were the plant is surrounded by a dripping ring
Im ok with building it myself, im not really sure what direction to go in. drip circle, external water pump with air line, internal water pump.

maybe i should clarify,

I want to pick the best setup based off of

1) plant health / yield
2) safety. avoid shock (water + electricity), avoid fire

If you go with a drip system, most of the parts can be bought in an $11.00 kit. http://www.discount-...onics-farm-kit/

I have two drip systems and two Lots of DWC plants and the only real difference I see if the drip buckets can accumulate algae on the grow media because it is always wet. The top of the media in a DWC system is dry. All of teh plants in either system grow a heck of a lot faster and healthier than in soil.

DWC uses a lot of nutrient solution though. I have been looking into a system like this for the summer grow since it essentially works a lot like a drip system but has an off cycle to dry the top of the media and it won't use near the amount of nutes that a DWC would.
