Eff this Chicago wind!

Yeah it's been excessively windy this month, and pretty damn cold to for the end of april. Look forward to monday and such, its goin to be 70 o.o

Just a thought, but have you thought of making a little wind screen to put around them. Something like the screening on house windows. It would let some breeze through and also the sunlight.

Yeah, Its a rare occurance that we have a better march than april....which has been uber lame to say the least. All my plants are dying to taste the fresh outside again.

I was just telling my wife that i'd take the weather we had in march over this terrible April. How gloomy.

yup, shitty shitty shitty. I've been leaving mine out in the greenhouse most nights. They come in if it is going to be below 40 degrees. They're makin' it through the weather but it just needs to warm the F up already. When I say warm up, I just want it to be in the 50s at night and 60s low 70s during the day. I don't think that is too much to ask. Shit I would take low 50s all day/night long for pete's sake!!!

Yeah.. as you can see from the other local growers.. we have a very uncharacteristic/desirable March, and then April has been pretty much down the drain.

Just looking for those 70/50F days again some we can get some stuff outside and get them growing.

We are very fortunate here. It's been in the mid 50's at night and mid 80's in the day . Last weekend we had 2 days in the 90's, but we pay for it in the summer. Many days over the 100 mark and 80 plus degree nights. That will pose another challenge for my plants.

The Windy City is windy? Who woulda thunk it...

Sorry I couldn't resist making a joke. Good luck with the growing and hopefully in the long run the wind makes the plants stronger and capable of supporting more fruit.

maybe you can make a 4x4x2 wooden frame and cover it with polly?

sorta like this but cheaper and a little bigger.

Just make a frame and staple plastic on it

This could be a 30-40$ project or even less if you can find small rolls of plastic

In my five years in an apartment in Hyde Park, I managed to grow a lot of stuff on my windowsill--including a mango tree that came back with me to southern Cal after grad school--but I never tried peppers. I did kill a bunch of plants with brief exposures to frosty air.

Don't fret it too much, the best producing plants I have ever had survived a small tornado. They got beat to hell but they ended branching out beautifully from it.

Seems pretty much everywhere is a mess weather wise ? My cherry tree is for sure F'd and haven't even considered putting the peps out ?

Damn bro, that sucks. They'll be aight though. It'll just give me a little wake up call! Hope everythings alright
