Every.Single.CGN Numbered pepper

The USD Grin seed bank, is a very good source for seeds, But since they started working with Monsanto they can be difficult to work with, mostly if your doing research and or doing a plant breeding program you can get just about anything you may want. But they will not give out seeds to any back yard growers, but there are ways around this, one is the Master Gardener Program, if you are in it they will give you some seeds that you might want for a plant breeding program. 
I have not dealt with CGN but I would be careful of them as the contract is binding and they could give a person some real problems as they are conected to the USDA and are working with Monsanto also.
 
I just had to try it to see just what I would run into so I made a small order, I read their legal and binding form which you really have to read every thing in it, which I did already my warning lights went to blinking but i went ahead and made the order after which I decided to cancel, as I just knew that there would be more questions to come, which there was,  so I sent them a email stating I was no longer interested and wanted the order canceled so far i have not heard back.  So I will give them a few more days to respond to it after which I will not bother worring about it.
They did get snoopy which is why I decided to cancel its bad enough that I have bill colectors calling me to find out how much money they can bleed me out of on my hospital bills,  so I don't need having the CGN poking around my affairs and or seeding me emails and postal notes. 
 
Hello, long time reader first time poster... Sorry to dig up such an old thread but it came up on google... I was just curious if they ever sent the seeds and what institute/company you put down to receive them... I wrote just like you did, personal use, breeding and seed storage and they denied my request stating
 
"CGN received your request for samples from our plant genetic resources collections.
CGN's policy is to provide access to our collections solely for the purpose of utilization and conservation for research, breeding and training for food and agriculture, as reflected in the Standard Material Transfer Agreement used by CGN for distributions.

We assume that your intended use would not fulfil these conditions. Therefore, we cannot grant your request.

Rather upsetting as they have some awesome seeds i would love to research and breed...not just the pepper either... some really cool stuffon there...

What seeds are you looking for,most if not all of the chile related stuff you can find easily. It will take more time and gained friendships if that intetests you.

I don't blame them for being strict now. Seed mooches use them and give no data in return. Not saying that is your intention. Only takes a couple folks to ruin a good thing.
 
yeah i guess you are right... i wish i had time for making friends to trade seeds etc... im lucky i have time to get on here to simply read things... thanks for the reply... good karma
