hot-sauce extra hot peri-peri sauce

made with Water, White vinegar, salt, Lemon, Serrano, onion, African Birdseye (peri-peri), Sunflower Oil, Spices, Cayenne pepper, Paprika.

In this country ingredients must be listed by volume...so more water...less vinegar...etc.

Hottest I have found so far in Oz. On it's own - wears off fast, very hot, arrives quickly and is straight off again, no build.....no romance with flavor.
Trying to use Serrano to tame the peri-peri is a silly idea... African birdseye will take the paint off your car...but as for Quantity V/S Quality... it's wham bam thank-you ma'am.

I did though add about 2 Tblsps to a good quality Vindaloo paste (everything else according to the packet)....gives an extreme heat to an already potent flavor.

when added to a curry, i give it 4 thumbs up out of 5 : On its own it's a 2

Amendment: I poured some on yesterdays cold pizza (hey im a bachelor) worked a treat so 3 thumbs up for making leftovers inspirational again

I have that stuff as well, but I would be hard pressed to give it more than 2 out of 5. It's ok, but there are a lot of better ones.

On the other hand, Nando's grilling sauces and marinades are great (flavor-wise) though, especially the coconut curry.

I may have inadvertantly tried an african birds eye chili. It was when we were on honeymoon. We were in a really really cool safari camp called Bataleur in Kenya. We got a tour of the veggie gardens, and there was a small chili bush.

Now, this was before I started growing and knowing, and at that time I knew only 4 chilis: Jalapeno, birdseye, red and green. I was THAT dumb. But I liked spicy food.

Anyway, I figure "can't be that hot" so asked if I could try one. It was small. I tried it. It hurt. My wife laughed

Nando's was a major sponsor for the Firey Foods Show. There was a lot of hype about them and personally, I didn't think that their sauces lived up to the hype.

But, for some reason, the peri-peri peppers get me good!

Yep, saw this stuff all over World Market....big marketing. I remembered having it on
a burger a few months back.... Was good, but didn't knock my sox off. Reminded me of a basic Lousiana hot suace.
