Fathual's Grow Log

Hello I'm new to growing peppers I'm a Bit nearvous showing how im growing and what I'm doing cause I sort of have no idea what I'm Doing, But I know theres great help here and Ive hade allot of help from allot of the members <3 thanks guys .


Heres some of my setup:
t12 daylight 40watts 3050 lumens 6500k color temp 4 bulbs 2 fixtures.
7 bags- 1 1/2 cubic feet kellog premium potting soil - Indoor outdoor.
These fert pellets with mycorrhizae http://www.gardenguy...%20granules.pdf

Plants growing: Trinidad Scorpion Sweet, Aji limon Peru yellow, Haba&ntilde;ero orange, and bhut jolokia, Fatalii. Some are still in the mail with a few surprize seeds i was told .

Btw this plant I grew before all these purchases I was failing at what i was doing and brought it back to life so far its doing well. so its an experiment plant lol. also not sure what its going to be because the seeds was from a mix pepper plant seed baggy.

Ill post my germination station after I get a few more stuff from the store also waiting for the seeds in the mail.

Im going to end up putting this plant in the sun the soil has gnats in it or some kind of flying creature the other pot does too. so both these pots are sticking outside ;( but not to worry there not my good peppers plus one of them is eh kind of big enough to go out in the sun. at least in the shaded parts.

Ill be germinating my main plants soon.

Started germinating 02/02/2012 -Seeds germinated, 2 Trinidad scorpion Sweet, 2 Aji lemon, 1 orange Habanero,1 peruvian white habanero , 1 Most prolific Chacoense, 1 Bhut Jolokia, 2 Chocolate habanero, 2 Datil.

Recommended things people have said to me , more to be added... Putting tea bags over the pod's to keep seeds from being cross pollinated.

Sprouted: 1-2 Datil's, 1-1 Peruvian White Habanero. 1-1 orange hab 2/11/2012.

Its ok thanks justaguy aji sprouted there becoming small sprouts oddly enough hopefully when there under the light they become more healthy. im wondering if its the plastic over the box anyway as soon as they sprout they go under the grow light

Sorry I havent updated for a while
heres some pic's of my babies, Im thinking should i transplant them to 4gal and the 5 gal buckets now or keep them in the cups longer?
also i noticed some black spots on one of the plants and some curling on the others im thinking im over watering plus i put some fert in but not to much.
im still learning hopefully you guys can direct me in the right direction also the lights are 8inchs away i have no fan blowing i was thinking of puting in a fan though since my room does get hot but it gets cold at night probably not below 50 though ill have to check that out. First 2 pictures are the plants im growing the other pictures are the one's i put a close up cause i seen spots on one and bubbles on the other
I hope im doing good but i see yellowing and bubbles and black spots but im new to this so I have to learn from my mistakes

I think there is still room to grow in those pots, but they might do better with a change of grow medium. I wouldn't go right to 5-gallon, though. Maybe something more like a quart. Its much easier to manage and fertilze a smaller container for now.

Don't guess on your fert amounts. Measure it and dilute it to 1/4 strength. It does look like some yellowing at the leaf tips which might be some fert burn. Hard to say. If it is, skip all ferts for awhile.

Overall they don't look too bad. Have they been outside yet? It is easy to get some leaf 'suntan' if you put them in direct light right away. It would be great to get them outside when it is in the 70s, but start in the shade, and only for a couple of hours at first. If you still have the over-winter plants, get them outside also. Gnats hate the great outdoors.

Thanks great advice although I was told 15 minutes each day ive done an hour with our heat here and thats bad but that was in the direct sun, I havent tried the shade yet.. im just scared to mess up any plants i have test ones outside there not doing to well i havent gotten the hardening process down yet cause I get told diffrent things lol but Im probably making it more difficult then it actually is. anyway thanks guys I love this site .

Right ... I thought i was doing bad ha but they do have nice hair's on them and a little waxy its just I need to read allot and make sure i take care of them and not over water thats the hard one the hardest though is actually hardening the plant outside I havent figured that one out yet, but i will.

Ill probably transpant them to 1 quart like siliman said , I see some good root systems in the clear plastic ones which im happy about.

Depends on where they go and what you are going to do with them. My guess a 10" diameter pot is probably a 3 gallon or so if it's nursery pot style. That might be big enough for a final resting place for some varieties, and still small enough to move around easily. If you are going to 3 gallon pots and then five, you will have a larger root ball to transplant later on. And five gallon pots are that much heavier than 3 if you're moving a lot or often. I don't think putting them in 3 gal pots is going to be horrible if that's your option : )

Ill try to keep that all in mind right now I put them in 3gal pots seeing how big they will get and if they get bigger ill put them in a 5 gal or bigger muahaha the aji and fatali true are getting nice sized the orange hab is skimpy ill just have to wait and read more and more.

Well something new I popped my head into the seed germination box and found 2 trinidad scorpion sweet seeds have sprouted.
