Hey everyone just wondering when you should start putting fertilizer in your soil, and how often. Also how do you put the fertilizer in the soil do you mix it with water? thanks.

I do not start until the plants have a few sets of true leaves, you will get at least 10 different answers if that many reply here. 
- I then fertilize once a week at watering. I do not add anything to the soil until they moved to last container before plant out.

What fertilizer are you considering using?
i dont really know, the only fertilizer around at local stores is miracle grow. any suggested brands i should look at using?Lovepeppers said:

Kelp, guanos, aerated worm/compost tea. There is even high Npk worm castings available. Dynagro foliage pro or dyna bloom if you want to give your plants every nutrient/micro nutrient available immediately.FullersFire said:
About 50 of my seedlings have there first set of true leaves, the next watering will be some seaweed extract and hydro guard. I will not fertilize with nutrients until probably it's next set of leaves, but it will be very watered down mix. Not even close to a quarter strength. It's easy to over do it and mess things all up, but a lil goes a long way and you can always add more.
I mix Bone Meal, Blood Meal, and crushed Crab Shell, per manufacturers recommendations, into the soil with my RotoTiller when I break ground about a month before transplanting out, usually mid-April.
Then, after transplanting, I normally wait a month or so before I begin weekly feeding with Liquid Fish Fertilizer mixed with Seaweed Extract, both at approximately 80% of recommnded strength, typically, I use five gallons of water into which I mix the liquid fertilizers. This is for a 4-foot by 32-foot bed.
I follow this regimen all season.
This year, I am trying out adding some Earthworm Castings into the bottom of the holes when transplanting.
