First log, Will follow with weekly updates

This is my first ever Grow Log. This is also my first year dealing with growing a fairly large amount of plants in my opinion. currently I have approximately 28 Bhut Jolokai, 19 Carolina Reaper, 19 Trinidad Moruga Scorpion and 6 Habanero.
Recently (Last night) I Pruned 3 of each pepper to begin my "research" and develop my own experience and opinion on how, when and how much to prune. I did only 3 of each plant so I have many control pieces. I am hoping my reading and video searches on this subject are leading me in the correct path. I would like to get my plants to about 12-15 inches  and with a nice hardy structure before putting them in the ground. I am starting this Glog also to make me aware of the growth seeing as I see these plants daily, So I do not notice growth. Measurements taken in this log for height are to the tallest portion of the stem. I will post the log at the end of the "experiment" unless anyone would like m to post it week by week. Please leave feed back, suggestions and comments as you would like. Seeing as last year was my first vegi garden and this is my first year beginning indoors I would like all the feedback I can get. Thanks TBG and Scott. It will be soon I get a few pods. I am very excited once again about this year's grow. I was a little down and out about it when I found out I had to move and the difficulty there BUT with the help and support of my family, my fiance's family and my THP family, we got through it thanks again to everyone here.
 
Just a little photo update. We have buds, on many plants. even though a lot of the plants are still quite small.
Now, I remember reading earlier in the year that it may be beneficial to the growth of the plant if buds are nipped off so the plant focuses on growth and not production. Any suggestions??

That's a dealers choice question.In my grow area, which is waaaay South of yours, they drop buds when they're not ready. So I let them be. Bhut, you're correct. Most say pinch the early flowers.
 
Well seeing as we are going into the mid of July and the grow season here will be done in 2 and a half/3 months, I think I'll let them be and see what they do. If it were earlier in the season I would probably pinch them off but I gotta get something this year lol. Next year should be much much better though. We will see though.

I don't know much about season length for you, but I'd imagine that It is relatively short, especially now.
I'd say at this stage to just leave them be, as you'll risk missing out on your harvest if they don't pod up while the weather's good.

It's funny you say that, we just had a LOT of rain here. A couple tornados hit about 50 miles from where I live so things have been pretty wet. I checked on the garden the other day for the first time in a week I believe, and I am getting buds, flowers and whatever the stage after the flower is called when the leaves fall off and only the ?stamen? Is left. I believe that meant it has been pollanated? I am very excited to see what's going to come in.
I will post some pics later on today or tomorrow
 
Sorry I have not been able to post any pics recently. I will soon I promise. I am beginning to get pods very exciting.

I haven't been posting much lately due to a change in work. I opened my own business and I have been very very busy. Keep a lookout for some pics very soon.
 
PHOTO UPDATE!!!!! We have growth. Lots of it. we have had quite a bit of heat, rain and just great weather for these guys. Im so happy I have quite a few peppers coming in. Feeling accomplished and that all of the work getting them started (even given the potential issues that occurred) everything is paying off now :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance:

Ghost... Part of this plant (the most productive) is laying on the ground for some reason with 6 or 7 peppers growing on it, this one is just chilling on a leaf like its a hammock LOL

Glad to see your progress Alex! When you're planning your garden this winter, we'll have to talk about the advantages of planting your chiles in plastic solar mulch. It's how I'm able to get supers at all this far north. Cheers!
 
Absolutely. I'm going to start hopefully late January, early Feb like I did this year, just without the complications I had this year. If I could have gotten them in the ground earlier and had time to prep the plot, I'm sure they would be doing a little better but I'm happy so far. If I get one nice ripe pod, I'll be happy, but judging by what I see so far, I'm looking at MANY more than 1 . Next year I'm hoping to do 10-15 in air pots and the rest in the ground. I am looking to do the plastic sheathing. I want to throw some ferts in it after I finish the garden this year. Till it up and then in the spring, hit it with another dose of some kind of ferts and a broad fork.

According to the good 'ol almanac, October 18th. I'll be watching the weather in about a month or so, see what's happening and depending on what the situation is, I'll be starting my over winter plans. I know for sure my perfect reaper will be coming g in along with my lemon drop. She's going right to the end for the competition, but I'll be taking her back out next year for sure. I haven't gotten any ripe.pods yet, but I bought a few lemon drops from the farmers market and they were GREAT. Most of my plant next year will be brand new though
From seeds I have gotten and purchased
So I can begin messing with genetics a little. My Peter pepper may be coming in as well. I might tamper with making a Frankenstein plant. I've seen it a few places and am interested. We will see.
 
Alas, 1 month left before things get frosty. The garden is still going strong even though we have had a few colder temps, dippingv into the mid 40's. Everyone is doing great. Don't have a computer right now so I can't post pics but as soon as I get a new one I
