Flowers - which way do they point?

Hi all. I have some Hawks' Claw chillies growing at the moment and their flowers are for some strange reason pointing DOWN, even though the pods are supposed to point UP.
 
Shall I expect funky and unexpected pods?

Sounds normal, my goatsweed acts similar. The flower stem should straighten and point up as the pod forms.
