Fruit time

How long would it take an average chinense variety to go from seed all the way to fruit?  I've been hearing a range of 4 months all the way to 6.  I understand there's a bunch of variables, but for those who are indoor hobbyists, how long does it take you?

No way you are going to get pods on a chinense in 90 days. Especially not a ripe one. Realistically you are looking at at least 120-150 days for ripe pods if you start from seed.

Whatever you say.  Just because you can't do it, doesn't mean that nobody can...

Im sure theres some hydro people with the right chinense strain can get some pods in 90 days.

Yep, there sure are.  And the OP did say indoor growers.  There are a few hydro methods capable of getting poddage in 90 days.  I've got a Bahamian Goat that just set 2 ripe pods in under 90 days.

Ok, set pods is different than harvesting ripe pods. I guess the OP did say fruit, not harvest.

Its been a while but I have 15 years experience running dro (not peppers) and 5 growing superhots. And Its hard for me to Imagine 90 days from seed to harvest with a superhot. I'm not gonna say its impossible just hard to Imagine. I would think the plant would have to set pods at less than 30 days from germination.

I'd really like to see it done and fully documented here at THP, if its possible.

Surely it doesn't take you 60 days to ripe a pod???  That should be one month tops, considering the first pod is on a small-ish plant.

I've been growing hydro for about 10 years, but Drain-To-Waste for the past few months.  My plants need to be transplanted, and they aren't the most majestic things right now, but they are producing pods.  Did I fully document it?  No.  I'm not running another indoor grow right now.  But I bet there are some hydro growers out there that are more skilled than myself.  90-day challenge, anyone? :)

  I was thinking the same exact thing!! A challenge would be really cool  i think we would need to put together a prize package to get people more motivated. I'm gonna PM you about it, so as not to highjack the OP anymore.

BTW I don't grow peppers hydro. I have experimented, and I could, but I don't.
