Garlic people

We have a garlic fest in central Minnesota every year. I will be going August 9th they have tons of different garlic varieties, more than I ever thought where out there to be honest. The last year I went I came home with 9+ varieties out of 30+. Much like pepper people some of these farmers smuggled garlic out of countries...

If anyone is interested in getting some new garlic or is looking for new garlic to try/grow Pm me with what you are looking for and if I can find it I will get it.

I will buy it and ship it to you as long with the farmers info. All I ask is that you pay for the garlic and shipping.

Let me know, the day of the festival I will try to post as many types that are available as my family will tolerate while there.

Kevin

Thats cool I only know of the basic white garlic, and the elephant ear garlic?
What kinds are there Im interested in trying some new garlic:-)

I used to think that there was only a few too, but like peppers there are many many kinds.

Keep an eye on this thread come August 9th.
I will post what I can when I know what is available when I am there.

Cool, Kevin! I am far away and don't want to abuse, so will not ask you for any kind of garlic. Maybe, if you see there the one clove kind of garlic (called also solo garlic, single clove garlic, single bulb garlic, pearl garlic...), you can ask how will multiply (when to put the clove in the ground, to get seeds).
You can also search for six clove garlic called also black garlic (but not the caramelized or false-said fermented black garlic). If you find this one, I would be interested in some seeds, if you cultivate it and get some seeds.

I'd be interested as well.  Are you going to be able to get a list of varieties available before you go?  Or is it a see it when you get there kind of thing?

The one variety I've love to get my hands on is a variety from France often called "Pink Lautrec".  I've never seen any available in the US.  They say the coloration has to do with the soil quality in that region of France, but I'd still love to get my hands on some.

Also, there is a garlic growing thread in the "Growing Other" forum.  You might post this question there in case there are people who missed in here.

I haven't been there for 2 years unfortunately it happens to be on bluegrass summer festival, so I really do not have a reference for what was there last year.
But what I will do is get there at gate open post as many farmers varieties as possible. If you folks can't get back to me before I leave I will get all of the information of the farmers and people can contact them and buy directly.

All I remember is that I at really fresh and good garlic for 6 months after I went last time.

last time I was there we were in and out pretty quick in the morning so I didn't drink anything. that would be cool if you could make it!

My wife ordered several varieties from http://www.filareefarm.com/ They sell about 100 different kinds.  Like many in this thread I was unaware there were many different kinds prior to investigating available options.  Potatoes too, if you've never had anything other than russet, red, yukon gold, etc. there's many kinds available.

Sounds cool.  Will keep an eye open on the 9th.  I didn't realize how many varieties and as you said much like peppers.  Even if I don't grow it would / will be an unique experience.

I am here going to find the farmers that sell and ship, so I can get out of the middle and you can buy directly from the farmer
