Gators 2020 Farm Glog

Ok here we go, as a hemp farmer, much of this grow will he record of our trials and tribulations during our first grow season. We are well under way and I will update with progress thus far. Also on property, we sell farm fresh eggs, tend to our ever growing fruit tree orchard, produce fresh vegetables, and ferment our crops (wines and meads included)! Lots of fun stuff I hope to share will learning from others who have traversed this path before me!

Hemp update! The greenhouse is full and our mothers are ready to rock and roll. This next week we will be taking our first 5,000 cuttings! Before we can cut we need to move roughly 200 mothers out of the greenhouse and into the field to make room on our grow tables. Unfortunately before we can do that I have to preorder the outside grow. Below is the weekly update on that.

Manifold ready.

Ground leveled

Tilled and bedded. I have 2 working tractors and a tiller that I used here. The small John Deere with a bucket helped move dirt to shape the the beds. Then a lot of back breaking raking to fully create the bed. Finally black tarp and sod staple to finish.

By Wednesday I decided 4 rows was enough. More mothers will be in both 15- gallon pots and then straight in the ground. No more raise beds! (Beds are right over 80’ long and building them myself was killer)

Painted beds to reflect heat. Also surprisingly not a great time.

Topped 58 young mothers and got them in the ground today.

Little did I know when I picked up my 500’ of poly for $150 they gave my premise drip line! Huge set back! Luckily I had enough black normal poly that I was able to keep my babies watered during transplant. Tomorrow I will have to pick up more regular poly. All is not wasted however, I will use the drip line poly in rows going directly into the ground and on my raised beds for vegetables. Live and learn.

Such a huge undertaking. I often think about enlarging my garden, But I'm lazy. The work that goes into these large scale grows can quickly become overwhelming. I have tons of respect for our farmers because I won't ever produce enough food to feed my family.

Best of luck this year don't forget to post plenty of pictures.

You should fill those brick holes with Soil and plant individiual herbs to each one. Would Look kool!
I have in the past. The soil slowly settles out. Eventually I will, but as now it is low on the priority list. We normally do root vegetables in them

Also set up a timer and a low voltage valve to mist the clones for 15 seconds every 10 minutes. Should have snapped a picture of this terrible wiring directions as they were comical at best.

Need opinions, what do y’all think? Fungus? Powdery mildew? Virus?

Regardless hit them, and the fig and guava trees, with wet table sulfur and Cytokin, a plant bioregulator. (Basically seaweed extract to act as a destressor.)

Agreed, We have gotten, no joke over 10'' of rain the past week! I've been waiting to address but have been set back, by this crazy rain. Looks like I will probably lose those plants if the weather doesn't let up. Bummer, but triage.
