generations?

I believe the generations just refer to the age of the plant. Pepper plants are actually perennials, you just have to keep them in the proper environment and they'll live multiple years.
 
Every time you grow new seeds from a hybrid/cross its a new generation ie. f1, f2, f3...
Outdoors you can only grow 1 generation per year but indoors you can get 2 or possibly 3.
