seeds Germination help

I got some seeds from Jim Duffy, I ordered some Bahamian goat seeds and he was kind enough to pack in another variety for free. I've grown several generic varieties from the hardware store not impressed with the germination rates. I'd like to maximize the germination rate, what techniques would you recommend? I've heard of soaking in peroxide (I don't know what ratio, don't want to kill the seeds), I've had success with the paper towel method, what do you recommend?
 
i started some bird eye seeds the other day, planted 7 straight into cups with soil and 3 days later 4 just broke thru , the 4 in the paper towel method show nothing yet.
 
rock wool is awesome, if you use soil, plant the seed at the proper depth, keep moist until the seed pops then scale back on watering. Dont use ferts until a few leave sets come in, then go with something light like sea kelp.
 
I swear by KNO3 24hr soak and then into coffee filter + jiffy bags.
 
Got a thermostat controlled heat mat that runs 26-30C and a cheap mini greenhouse

I have seed sprouting organic mix in seed tent on heat matt in window evertime if seeds are fresh i end up with to many plants thanks for all

About the heat mats, I have a heat mat that is meant for aches and pains. The mat gets up to 100 on low,how would I decrease the temp?
 
Peroxide is generally for seed you know will take a long time to germinate, so it is less susceptible to fungi. It shouldn't be necessary with pepper seed.
 
I used to use a terrarium heat mat, book or paper on top and used a thermometer to check the temp. Then small plastic tub, fresh compost and cling film over the top. Someone bought me a proper heated germinator so I don't do that any more.
