everyone has their own way of doing things but here is the way I like to do it...
recommendation: after the seed starting tray (or other container) is filled, pick it up and see how much it weighs...then soak the tray by sitting it in a container...then pick the tray up and you can tell by the different weight whether the plant needs water or not...
this will also give you a hint as how much each tray holds and how much water you will have to put in your container for bottom watering...
my seedlings droop after about 4 days without water...
planting...I fill the tray with soil, take a pair of tweezers and grab a seed, stick the seed 1/4-3/8" deep...after all seeds are "stuffed" in the ground, I tap the tray to shift the soil so that it covers the seeds...then I take another tray (just like the one I am planting in) and sit it on top of the seeded tray...just a little pressure on the top tray will compress the soil slightly and make sure the seeds have a "wrapped sensation of comfort" in their new home....
