Bought some hab and bhut seeds from thehottestpepper.com. Have been trying to get the seeds to germinate for almost 3 months now with no success. I have changed soils twice as well as changed how much and often I water them. I would greatly appreciate any and all advice to get these bad boys growing seeing as time is running out for me.
 
Tell us more about the growing conditions. Where are your seeds? Are you using grow lights? What temps are the seeds exposed to? Are you using a heat mat?

More information would give a better picture of what you could improve :o)

Welcome to the forum!

I never heard of that website before, but when I started purchasing my seeds I wanted to order from tried, proven, and trusted sources so I went with the suggestions of others here. There is even a sticky now on where to get seeds.

Not saying you have dudes, but have you tried seeds from a 2nd source? Also you may want to list with as much detail as possible how your trying to germinate your seeds in a step by step manner for us to provide feedback and suggestions.
 
I have heard of them, browsed their site, but have never gotten seed from them and don't know anything about them. I would do what the other two said and post more detail about growing conditions.

I bought both the bhut seeds and hab seeds from them. They are doing great! I started them in early January and they are both growing fine and are starting to have flowers. Here is the bhut jolokia from them on the front-most right. Its my biggest bhut i have so far.

I used a heating seedling mat at 85 degress. I used the cup method for germination, which can be found in this post: Cups vs Bags. It took a 3 to 4 weeks for them to germinate. But once one germinated, they all did.
 
Also you maybe right about starting from seed this late in the game. Maybe you can order some bhut plants from Cross Country Nurseries or since you are in Denton, TX, you can meet up with AlabamaJack who is in Fort Worth and he could sell some bhuts to you (does he have any for sale)? PM him and see if that is an option.

I have been using one of the jiffy mini green house starting kits with a heat pad underneath to provide the heat and humidity. It stays around 80 degrees in there, and stays pretty humid. I use a spray bottle to keep the soil moist and not overwatered.

Three months is a bit much for no germination. How many seeds are you putting per jiffy slot? Try moving some seeds from the jiffy to a small jello cup. Put a wet paper towel on the bottom of the cup and put your seeds on top. Doesn't hurt to try. I had some bhut seeds that would not germinate for over a month in bags. after i moved it to cups, they germinated pretty fast after. Also, the plus side with cups, you can easily see if a seed has germinated. Put as many seeds as you like into the cup.
 
Do you keep the dome on or off? I've been using that same kit for a couple of years and have almost every seed germinate. Some varieties like Bhut or White Habs can take 3 or more weeks. that's why I like the Jiffy kit because I can pop out the ones that germinate faster and leave the others sitting until they are ready.
 
I have a Jiffy heated greenhouse, too. I use small plastic drinking cups and fill them with either coco coir or pro mix starting media. Pretty near 100% germination with everything I put in there. If you're using those peat pucks that come with it, just my opinion, but throw them away and start with a different medium.
 
@LGHT- I leave the dome on at all times, unless spraying with water of course.

@skydiver- I am using a seed starting mix, not those pete pucks you are talking about. I have a buddy that lives in ohio that uses the pro mix stuff but I can't find it anywhere around here.

@pepperjam- I am only putting one seed per unit but planting 4-5 units at a time for both the bhuts and habs.

Next time, put a 2-3 seeds per unit and if more than one seed sprouts per unit, cut the weakest seedling and keep the best looking one. Increases your chances.

Or you could just put like 10 seeds in a cup and once you see a little root shoot out, move the germinated seed carefully to the jiffy units to grow into a healthy seedling. (yea i know, i am over promoting the cup method, but its aewsome!). The cups are there only for germinating, not growing seedlings.
 
If you can pull the dirt away from one of the seeds, is it still creamy colored or has it turned brown/black? If it is still cream colored you can give it an overnight soak in a solution of 1% Potassium Nitrate(salt petre, KNO3), and 1% Peroxide. It might kickstart your seeds.
 
I got it at Lowes. Spectracide Stump remover. It is 100% Potassium Nitrate.

if in doubt. check the MSDS, the chemical in the bottle is 100%potassium Nitrate.

add 1gram KNO3 to 99mL of water.

I used it last season, and again this season. Bad seeds will turn black in the solution. After planting the good seeds you can use the remaining solution to water them with as needed.
