my eyes almost fell out of my head when I found this...

18qt Hoffmans Seed Starting Mix...6.69 each...my local nursery wants 9.95 for 10 qts...now, I'm no rocket scientist....

I'm just sayin'...

I jumped on it really hard and bought 10 of them...even with $50 shipping I came out ahead...total for 10 bags and shipping...116...best price I have found...

AJ,

Do you use the Hoffmans for the plug trys and 1st small pots or just the plug trays?

just the plug trays, when transplanted to 3" square containers, they get a local nursery's Premium Potting Mix...then when the get transplanted to 5 gallon containers, the get a mix of 2/3 this "Premium Soil Mix ($20.00/yard)" and 1/3 of the premium potting mix

I get my Premium Soil Mix from here... http://www.silvercreekmaterials.com/products-organic.html

I have recycled my soil for the past 3 years and am just now getting the consistency I want...not too light, holds water pretty well but also has good drainage, doesn't compact readily either...

It's great stuff, but I can't justify the cost even at 50% off that price! :) Pro-Mix Bx in 3.8 cu ft compressed bales works excellent. Whatever you do though, you do it great! :)

Couldn't beat the 6.69 but just ordered the same from Amazon for 11.99 with free two day shipping. Thanks for the tip on Hoffmans AJ gonna try it for my first shot at starting seeds this year. It obviously works good looking at what you've grown.

thanks Chris, I just plain love the stuff...I may have to try the Pro-Mix Bx this year too...

logchief...if you take into consideration the shipping with mine, that is eleven and change so you got a good deal too...

the only issue you will have with Hoffmans is it is hard to initially get wet...but after it gets wet, it is easy to water...and only bottom water using it...if you pour or squirt water on it, it is so light that you "blow it away"...just fill your tray and sit it in water and leave it there until it wets...
