Recently I have started seeing green in my soil on some of my larger seedlings. What is this? Is it a problem?

Hard to say for sure without a picture, but probably algae.
.... Which means you are probably keeping the soil too wet. Scrape it off, spray it with a mix of hydrogen peroxide and water, and let it dry out more between waterings. You should let the leaves droop just a tad between waterings.
