contest Growdown Throwdown 2019 Sri Lanka - Chilli Red!

She's an eager little plant, coming up that much over the weekend! xD And the correct pheno as far as I can tell?

Now the air pruning begins and then the transplant to Coco in a few weeks

Thanks for the seeds, Andy! And the sauces. Bonus!

Going to plant one seed each in Rockwool cubes.
If they are a no-go, I will try the other four.

You're not last...I haven't let seeds touch moisture yet, and I had em before anyone ;) ha

They will sprout. I hope you like the sauce.

In the meantime I got a little brew going on... Gotta feed that soil, right?

Looking awesome!

Looking forward to seeing what you do with
these little cubes, lespaulde. I'm just fooling
around with them for the first time this season.

My seeds are dry as a bone, Guru.
Shall I hold off a while longer to make it fair?
I mean, since we have such a long grow season
here in PNW?  ;)

LOL, me too Paul, first time trying and so far so good. ;) I just think the concept makes sense and I liked reading that then once transplanted, they should really take off... I'll probably run a little experiment in the tent once the season is underway, to see whether it really does make a difference to air prune vs just transplanting once roots pop through the bottom

Hello! Newbie with a dumb question here. Are these peppers hot enough that youd recommend wearing gloves or washing your hands well after handling? Im trying to convince the greenhouse advisor in my school to let me put more peppers in, and if theres any seeds left Id love to put this variety in specifically. But shed probably say no if these were hot enough to cause a health hazard. The hottest pepper Ive grown is a jalapeño, so I dont have any experience with like, Really Hot Peppers. Either way, I sent a PM :)

edit: why is the editor eating all of my apostrophes, RIP me

First and foremost...there are ZERO health hazards with peppers or capsasin. While it may not feel pleasant...capsasin isn't damaging anything. It is simply a chemical that just so happens to bind perfectly to our brains receptors that mimic pain. So you essentially get a "false flag" reaction of the only way your brain knows how to tell you that you were just injured, even though there was no real injury.

Secondly, these I'd say are about as hot as the hottest jalapeno you've encountered. Some members have gotten fresh pods from me this season and they said they were suprised by the heat, I assume they were expecting lower cayenne heat...where in reality its like a really good jalapeno...

Another question: would it be a faux pas to sell these peppers after theyre weighed? The greenhouse advisor wants me to plant as many seeds as I can to turn them into jelly or something to support the FFA at our agriculture festival. Ill of course only pick one plant to weigh for the growdown :) I dont think theres any problem with this but Ive never participated in a growing competition before so I wanted to make sure haha
