Growing olives

I was looking into getting an olive tree specifically for trying the tea, but they just don't grow fast enough to be able to do it with any regularity, at least as a potted plant. I'd need to have a nice big tree planted outside, which is kind of difficult when you're living in a rental...

I have seen some potted plants heavily covered in leaves, but they were very old trees so yeah unfortunately it might be difficult to do it regularly. If you had a tree you could do it as a one off I'd guess?

@CraigZee

I wish it grew as a class B weed where I am :neutral:

I am off to Aldi later because they have gardening stuff on offer, One of the offers is "Mediterranean plants" for £14.99, from the pictures I think one of them is an Olive tree, looks to be about 2 foot high.

Edit, My mistake that offer starts next Thursday. There is an Olive in it though, and the plants are between 70 and 100cm tall

Cheers for that Lawrence, I'll be passing Aldi later on. Think I might have to make a stop and see what they've got (Y)

I know Russian Olive is considered a weed, never heard of other types called such...

Don't think I'm going to find Olive plants for sale around here in any event.

Just read your post after you'd edited it, was going to say that all i could find in Aldi were apple,cherry,peachand pear trees. I shall be checking again next week!

They look like cuttings to me, but I could be wrong. What sort of pot size do we think? They're only sort of 6" big at the most!
Ah well, worth a go for a couple of quid.

I didn't think I'd find any around here to be quite honest, but it seems as tho I was wrong!
