overwintering Growing through winter

Has anyone tried growing new seeds straight through winter in a greenhouse?
 
I started seeds about a month ago and transplanted them into dutch buckets in the greenhouse. I don't expect them to grow fast with the cooler temps and low hours of sunlight this time of year but I thought they would grow enough to start flowering around March when the temps start to rise to a more consistent level.

if you were trying to flower in december / january you would need supplemental light probably.
 
but just veg growing is fine if they stay warm.

That's what I was thinking. I'm a little worried about how slow they'll grow in cooler temps.

It's a small GH I built with scraps(14x16) and I do have 2 electric heaters I used last year for tomatoes. We only had a few nights I needed to run the heat to keep it above 45°.

You can research which lights output the most heat. I think and I could be wrong but the HPS... you could also grab a few shop light 12 inch reflector packs and use a high strength cfl above every two.

I'm guessing that the day-time temps could get up high enough from solar energy.  I'd be worries about the night-time.  If it drops down to or below the 60F mark, the growth will slow quite a bit. If it get into the 40's, you could have a very very slow grow on your hands. Plants should "survive" with the heaters you have.
 
I wouldn't worry about the day-time light cycle as peppers don't care about it much.  Temperature is the key.
 
Looks like a setup that I should have in my back yard     Jealous !!!

The plants survived the snow and freezing temps, the heaters kept it at 40. Some plants are growing faster than others. I used old potting soil when I started these seeds and I think some got some type of fungus/disease but they're growing out of it. I have some ghosts in containers still going and starting to make new flowers, the old growth looks bad due to nutrient deficiency from all the rain we had this year. I'm feeding them Masterblend hydro mix and they're starting to look better. the tomatoes are stating to put on flowers. Here's a few pics.
