hardening pepper problems

011.jpg

Take a look at my newest pest. I am hardening my plants to pot up in a couple of weeks but have been leaving them out at night as it hasn't been very cold. So I come home today from work and see one plant sagging to the side and all the others are good. I put it on my table and start to work with it and it MOVES! Scared the heck out of me. Had to take a picture for proof. A toad had dug into my small pot and taken over. I removed the pest problem and re potted my plant, about 1/2 of the roots were mangled from it's digging so I am hoping it pulls through.

Tomorrow we are building some shelfs to get them off of the ground, that is for sure. Thanks for the moral support, It was my only Naga Jalokia , so I am hoping it pulls through.

yeah man, that plant should do just fine. I cut a seedling with only two true leaves on it at it's base, pulled off the catolydons, stuck it in some soil, kept it moist and it re grew roots and is still growing today. lol, I did it just to see if it would work. So a little bit of damage is not going to kill your baby Jolokia. It's scary though isn't it.

Under/Overwatering are the biggest plant killers out there. So if you watch out for anything, watch out or that. Especially when they start getting too big for their container. That shit happens on a dime. One second you look at them and they are fine and then an hour later (If you are lucky enough to catch them) they are drooping and shriveling up like nobody's business.

Good luck with the rest of your grow!

Naw, man you got it wrong. that toad was smart he was homeless and applying for a job as a "Bug Buster", no telling how many real pests he kept away from your plants. He was hunkered down in Toad Heaven, Naw he ain't a pest but a beneficial organism...I hope Toady is OK in the canal, he ain't a frog..
hehe Ribbit

All kidding aside, Good luck with your grow...

He can be beneficial in the front flower garden or by the canal out back but when he digs up my pepper plants that I have worked so hard on he is in BIG trouble. He had a hole dug underneath the plant and was completely covered up. My pepper plant was homeless and that is unacceptable, so I had to evict him and wish him well.
