After having a bad time last year with Ghost peppers, I will only use a heat mat. I planted 40 seeds and only had 1 sprout. I got the peppers from my friend. He said his Ghost peppers germination rate last year was less than 10%. I have had good luck with a heat mat & thermostat. Mine is set for 83 deg F.

Heat mat thermostat

I use a hydrofarm thermostat and heat mat. For me they work well since the ambient temps in my house fluctuate day/night and when the lights come on in my grow closet temps spike and the thermostat keeps everything perfectly balanced between 85-90. Since using it my germination rates have greatly increased.
