Hello and Merry Christmas from San Diego!

I have been visiting this forum for a few weeks now and decided I would join! I am an amateur chilihead/gardener and cook. I have always enjoyed making my own sauces and have decided to give a few super hots a try. I have read several threads about it on here already, but post your favorites for a "usable" superhot with flavor. I am not into hot just for the sake of hot. I am a Military husband and father of 3 (2 teenage girls ughhh). My grow list for this year is as follows:

Jalapeno
Mucho Nacho Jalapeno
Anaheim
Big Jim
Ancho
Caribbean Red
Cayenne
and what I believe to be Chile de Arbol. I rescued the plant from a local nursery. It had been hit by the frost and they gave it to me for free! No label but it had some pods I saved the seeds then sauced and roasted/crushed the rest (warm nutty and delicious). It is putting out new leaves already! Gotta love south facing San Diego windows! They claimed it to be black cobra??? Anyone know the difference? it has the goatweed appearance, but the new leaves are still real small and everything was drooping/dead when I got it so I couldn't tell it the pods were upright or not???
Looking to add that first true but flavorful superhot...thoughts???

Gotta go...I hear the young ones rustling...ready to see what Santa brought.

Once again Merry Christmas!!!
Shane

:welcome: from NY
I don't think it's considered a super hot but the chocolate habanero so far is my favorite chile so far. It has such a great flavor that is fairly unique. It has been my favorite to use when cooking or making sauces. So it might be one you would like to try. Also what do you do in they navy? Just curious since my brother is a sailor who is also stationed there. He is an EM with the MCM's.

Thanks all! Griff, funny you mention MCM's...I'm a Mineman who has spent my whole career working with and on MCM's! Which one is he on?

Welcome and merry x-mass to you.Did 16 months at pendelton myself.Hang out and enjoy and anything you need you`ll find here. Rich

Shane,
He's mainly on the Pioneer while in San diego and has been on the Ardent when deployed. I believe those will be the two ships he will be on during his career. Unless he ends up rotating with other ships as well since he has only been in about a year and a half. I'm sure you know all about the rotational crews with those ships. I think it would be pretty funny if you knew him.

I started my career on Pioneer rotating to Ardent for deployments back in 96! That's too funny. If he's an EM I probably don't. I have been out of the MCM loop for a while doing a tour with the new LCS ships. It is a small world. I spent 5 years on those 2 ships back in the day though! If he asks around I am sure some of the MN's onboard there know me its a really small community. I'm a Senior Chief, and there aren't too many of us in the rate. Awesome!

Was looking at your grow list yesterday and I'm a little jealous!

Yeah that is funny that both of you have been on the same ships. That is also this past summers grow list. I don't have a final list for the coming year as I have aquired more varieties this year. I would be glad to send you some seeds if you would like. Sending a PM with a list of what I have to share.
