Hello from Albuquerque, New Mexico

I'm planning to take many egg cartons of Thai pepper seedlings to the grower's market this spring, so I've been planting about a carton a day for the last two weeks. I looked online to see what the specific germination time was (I knew it was 2-3 weeks, but wanted an actual number. I found "16 days" but that same site (myfolia) has people swapping seeds. Wow! Why didn't I ever think of that? So I searched for "trade pepper seeds" and found this site. I'm currently growing 13 Thai pepper and four young habanero plants in my office (bought two habanero peppers at Walmart, and voila!). I have many Thai seeds to trade for "the hotter the better" seeds. Later I HOPE to have unique, heritage green chile seeds- but I need to see if they are viable. A friend always buys the family annual batch of geen chile from a single, small farmer in northern New Mexico. I don't know the actual variety- they are akin to Big Jim or Anneheim, but smaller and thinner skinned. What's cool is that they are a unique variety that this guy's family has been growing for ~four generations. (Here 'unique' means not any of what is sold here as green chile (ever heard of Hatch?) I saved the seeds as I was freezing the chile, but they have been roasted, so I truly have no clue if they will sprout. I'll share what happens.

I notice that this has gotten really long for an intro, so let me just say that if you have hot seeds that you'd like to trade for Thai seeds let me know, and wish me luck on the heritage seeds. My email is

s m i t h k w and my email address is at gmail. I assume that it's OK to post emails here, and hope that I made it clear enough to understand and strange enough to avoid email harvesting programs. -Keith

Thanks for the welcome, yes, I saw the script. It appeared when I cut and pasted the post. At this point (I've slep since then) I don't remember why exactly I cut and pasted it, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. I probably should have gone through and deleted it (I didn't put it there, something else did) but I was too lazy. Thanks for being kind about it.
