Hello From Illinois

Hello folks.

Names Ray. I'm from Johnston City Illinois. A small town very south in Illinois near SIU.

I love sauces and powders of all kinds. I am just now getting in to growing my own peppers. I have a very hard time eating them but love to make sauce and powders. Something about sticking a vegetable in my mouth just makes things go terribly wrong sadly enough. I have managed a sliver of a chili here and there. I LOVE the heat and some of the flavors. However, some flavors are just horribly bad and ruins the heat for me.

The powders I make, I like to use in dry rubs. I build smokers and cook on them regularly. I have to cook two ways. One for me and one for the family without the death dust. :P

Anyhow, I have went on long enough. I am happy to be here and look forward to having some good conversation on the boards. Take care and flame on!

Welcome from Joliet, IL

Joliet! My home town. I was born at St Joes. I'm a Marion street guy right up on top of the hill from the old raised black bridge. Used to play at that little park as a kid and the cannon at the bottom of the hill. That was a LONG time ago.

Ah right on.

I moved away in 96 and just came back up in March for my fathers quadruple bypass and went riding around and between Joliet and Shorewood, WOW has it changed,.I almost did not know where the heck I was. I'm talking like up there by Portillos and that neighborhood. When I moved away, none of that was there. I was amazed!

I just ate at that portillos other day. It's changed a lot since I moved up here. Most of that wasn't there when we built our house in shorewood. It all sprung up pretty fast.
