Hello from Melbourne

I found this forum by accident when looking for growing tips for our climate here in Melbourne, Australia.

And I'm glad I did. My mum had the most wonderful chilli bush that used to supply me with extraordinary amounts every year and they were the perfect heat and delicious. Sadly the bush died last summer and nobody has any idea what type it was, so I'm hoping to pick up some tips and ideas here.
I can already see there's a number of posters here from Melbourne so looking forward to getting into it.

So now the journey begins for me.
Went to the local garden centre and picked up a few seedlings as well as some seeds (would have liked to have sewn a few weeks ago).
2 each of Jalapeño and habanero seedlings potted up.
Also planted some bishops crown, aji ahuachapan and scotch bonnet to sit on a heat pad for a few weeks until spring really kicks into gear.

Some advice as to sun needs for the seedlings would be appreciated. My small yard is west facing and paved, with high brick walls all around so as soon as the sun comes out, heat is up - often too hot for most plants which is why we have mostly succulents out there.

Wondering if full sun is best or some protection? I figured I'd give them a bit of shelter until they have established, but going to work out where to position them after that.

Any advice greatly appreciated.
