Hello, my name is A. Whitney Brown, and I live in Austin, Texas. I have about 70 pepper plants growing in my back yard, mostly jolokias, but also some datils, caribbean reds, red and yellow scotch bonnets, jamaican reds and lemon drops, some in their second year. I have about 400 square feet of peppers, in beds, with drip irrigation. Now, early June of 2012, there are hundreds of green peppers just starting to turn red. Some of the jolokias have over 50 peppers. My second year Caribbean red is only about 2x2 feet but has over a hundred peppers on it.
I make hot sauce with 4 ingredients - a blender, fresh peppers, Bragg's Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and fresh squeezed lime juice, so it's all about the peppers, not the recipe. The best flavor and heat combination so far has been a blend of chocolate habs and jolokias, about one quarter chocolate habs.
I live here in South Austin and I'm married to guitar player Carolyn Wonderland. She rocks. So hello y'all and a lot of musicians here are serious pepperheads!
