misc Hey Y'all, the Stettoman is Still Hangin'!

Wow, it's been a minute, eyuh?

Since moving to Colorado Springs in 2021 I've been pretty busy failing at growing my pepper bliss. Oh, stuff will grow, but my Serranos are stunted and not prolific. Colorado is supposed to be great for peppers, but been a bust for me.

Except for one stubborn Arequipeño that, without any assistance from me, is entering it's FOURTH season. And IS prolific. Dunno why, but I let it.

And yes, I planted Serranos and this year.
When I get a chance, I'll try to catch up with y'all I used to kibbutz with.

Oh, and we're moving again, this time to east-central Texas...

A minute my azz. It's been an hour, at least, ha! I figured you were just enjoying the mile-HIGH life. Good to see you back. When ya movin'?

HAW! You guys rawk my fleepeen day!

I can honestly tell y'all that pepper growing is not why we're moving to TX, though I look forward to a hopeful reconnection with plants that will behave prolifically like they did for me in MN.

We're moving there for the dumbest of reasons: money. We've discovered over the last 3 years that this place has us scratching and clawing through every day just to find that we're worse off than the day before.

Also we calculated carefully and discovered that Pflugerville is a tad closer to Port Aransas than is CO Springs.

And yes Tinkerbelle, I'm still playing in bands. In fact, over these last 3 years I've been in SEVEN bands and out of same. This 8th one is a great fit for me, from 50s to Ozzy. Great people I'll truly miss.

The move will likely be in September, though it could be much sooner. We already have a house waiting for us, so when the Mamma unit sez "let's git!" is when we git.

Oh, and that Arequipeño I've been keeping alive---she be looking to have a great year already! Not even May yet--->>

Well, it looks like a Stettoglog will be back for my first grow in Texas next year. As a viability "experiment" I threw a bunch LOThai seeds that were sent me almost 10 years ago by (I think) PaulG into some Miracle-Gro medium last week. I'll be dammed.

I have bags upon bags of labeled seeds of virtually every pepper I ever growed. If half of them have germ rates anything like these guys, well then yay me!

I should have taken a pic this morning before continuing, the photo above is two days old, and the hooks tripled in those two days. It breaks my heart to cull seedlings, physically hurts. But the mountain of hooks coming up was insane, so I removed 37 seedlings this morning. I'm not down to one per, but it's better. God save my murderous soul...

Damn, 37!? The seeds must tremble when you reach for them in the bag!

JK. I don't like culling either, but man, if I don't I'll have way too many plants instead of just too many.

Yeah, I plumb forgot how amazingly viable my seeds have always been, and 10+ years old had me go overboard grabbing seeds out of the bag.

But not to worry, the bag is still full enough to repeat this stunt 4 or 5 more times😉...

And yeah, I am so gonna take you up on Serrano seeds. I started with the Tampiqueño because I wanted to try and duplicate the wonderful smoked powders GIP produced. I'll continue with that but would like to expand...

Happy to hit you up with a selection and maybe you can find what works best in your new growing conditions. I don't know how different the powders would be and maybe you'll end up with a few flavors to choose from.
