beer Homebrews

Just thought I would post here to say hi. I am a new homebrew, and new pepper grower. 2 new hobbies in 2 months! I guess that's what happens when you retire from the Army.

I am on my 2nd brew. Both have been wheat. First is a Munich wheat from all extract. It is currently carving and should be about done. 2nd batch was a mini mash American wheat. It is just over 3 weeks in the carboy. About ready to bottle, although I have no bottles right now...

I'm really interested on how to incorporate heat into a brew, and how it will taste. Everything from a mild jalapeno blonde to some bhut brew stout.

Done a bunch of pepper beers, with different peppers and different additions throughout the process

best way I have gotten the heat is from a "dry hopped" pepper addition, but the best flavor I have gotten out of it has been from a whirlpool addition

Jalapenos are kind of shitty in beers to be honest. I do not like them at all. Use a nice hab or savina and you are golden.

Thanks for the advise.

I am drinking my first batch for the first time BTW.

My 12oz was awesome.  My 750ml flip top was flat.  Any explanation?  They were brand new flip tops.

Scuba_Steve - glad to hear you caught the homebrew bug! I have been brewing since '05 - it's the best hobby ever! I am new to this website, and to the pepper hobby all together.. I have been growing peppers for a few years now and really love to make my own sauces and salsas. I would STRONGLY recommend you, or anyone getting into homebrewing, get on the Homebrewtalk.com forum. Best brewing resource out there. Recipes, DIY's, Tips and Tricks, etc..  CHECK IT OUT!

One thing about peppers and alcohol, go easy on them. Half a pepper in a 5 gallon home brew will probably give you more heat than you really wanted. Also, listen well to Wheebz. Aside from having home brewed for many years he's also a professional Brew Master and with that I'll let the Fermented Sensi do the talking

This... for me Jalapeno's are off putting in beer.    Wheebz speeks the truth here.  Savinas with (for me at least) a mix of Columbus, Citra and Cascade hops with some orange zest produces an amazingly refreshing and tasty beer with some heat behind it.
