disease-pests How do I protect plants with flowers when it gets hot

Speed has the right idea.  2 years ago I wrapped my black plastic planters in old, white bedsheets and last year I switched to white plastic grow bags.  It made a huge difference.
 
I actually picked up some reflectix product from HD and plan to tape it around my pots for the remainder of the summer.  I have similar product, radiant barrier on my roof, laid down under the new roofing shingles and the decking this past spring.  I cant say if it was solely this product or the combination of the new shingles and the product but my attic temps came down significantly.  Next year I plan to go with DIY fabric style "air pots" using felt.
