How do you use your frozen pods?

I use mine for cooking, sauces and powders. Occasionally eat them whole as well if I'm feeling like it, but as you said they get mushy after thawing and I prefer the texture of fresh over frozen for eating whole.

Everything it doesn't matter to me if they are fresh or frozen. Fresh are obviously the best but everything i do with fresh pods i do with frozen.

i chop them up still frozen and put them in cooking. it's also a handy was of less risk of getting capsaicin oil on your hands - i don't use gloves when i chop frozen pods, but i do with dried or fresh

I use my frozen pods for these!

Thanks for all the replies!

Those that make powders, does it take longer to dehydrate?

Those that cook, do the pods lend themselves well to stir fry? What kind of foods do you cook with them?

I'm not experienced compared to some on here, but I've found frozen pods dry quicker than fresh.

I agree with most here. They are "safer" to chop...not as much risk of getting the burning fingers. I powder a lot (much quicker than fresh), stir fry some (still delicious), use in other cooking, and make some sauce. Others stay in their frozen bags of joy until the new guys arrive the next season! I've even made mushy poppers on the grill...just use foil!

Do the mushy poppers still taste great?

ive found you can get a much finer chop from frozen peppers, you can basically scrape shavings of the pepper away while its still frozen hard. I dont make powders but until my plants start putting out peppers all i use for cooking is frozen ones

I prefer to dry them first and then freeze - too easy to hydrate! I don't like mushy peppers! JMO.

That's an interesting concept! Though I suppose they aren't as fleshy?
Actually, I find frozen pods make the best, finest powders. Since the cell walls are already shattered by the freezing process, when they are dehydrated, they grind up nicely!

Good point!

It's even better, for me at least, to smoke them, then dehydrate, and freeze. I do this especially with red jalapeños so I can make my chipotle hot sauce in small batches. Works for me.

1: Hit with hammer to shatter into pieces
2: Roll up in snowball
3: Use to simulate mustard shell during annual WWI reenactment.

If there's any left after this, just dry em out and powder them.
