• Do you need help identifying a 🌶?
Is your plant suffering from an unknown issue? 🤧
Then ask in Identification and Diagnosis.

How long do you leave ripe pods on the plant?

Dunno, I just kinda did it to IGG cause we played post tag for a sec. Then I tried to tag AJ as suggested, but dunno if he's seen it or not.

Thanks Iggy. Can't you still put the mushy ones in the dehydrator? Do they lose some heat?

Yes you can, I often freeze them until I have enough to dehydrate. They get reaaly soft after they thaw, but it does not change the taste or heat at all!

After freezing, heat and flavor are 99.99% the same! I cant tell any difference, the only thing that changes is the firmness of the pod, or lack thereof.

Alright, so you've done the freeze/thaw/dehydrate Joe, and it seems to work just fine? Excellent! Once my pods start coming off heavier, I'll do a bit of experimenting with this. Glad to hear that freezing and thawing don't affect the taste or heat. I can deal with the texture issue if I'm making sauce or dehydrating them anyways.
