seeds how long to leave seed heater mats on?

How long do you leave your seed heater mats on after your peppers pop out of the ground? Do you leave them on till the first repotting or just till they sprout?

I keep mine on heat and under lamp until I start new seedlings. This may not answer your question entirely but this is the method Ive used and it is what has worked for me. Once the seedlings are maybe 2 inches tall, I remove the plastic top, but the entire time they are exposed to the light and have the mat. About a week or so later I will remove the mat to use for new seedlings.... Ive had great success this way.

Good luck!!

another +1 for cmpman. Turn that heat mat OFF as soon as most of your babies have popped through the soil line. The heat is only to get them to pop. Or if you want, set it on a timer and set the heat to around 70 degrees but so that it shuts off at night and cools down.

The 80-85 degrees typically used to germinate is most unhelpful once germination has occurred. It makes them grow too fast. What you want is slow, thick, chunky growth at the correct pace.
