How much direct sunlight would be advisable for plants growing outside in Zone 5 (Illinois)?

Temps are cool enough up your way that you shouldn't need to worry about lack of pod set or excessive moisture loss on hot days... so give them all the sun they can get.

I've seen some other posts that argue partial vs. direct...

Anybody have any sources that definitively recommend one way or the other?j

Is it the temps that are the most concern?

My pepper hedge in Massachusetts, also zone 5...

Never had a problem with full sun here. All I have are Annuums... Baccatums might be another story?

I have two groups of peppers at my house... the one group get 6-6.5 and the other gets 8-9... both direct. The 8-9 group always out produces the other group in growth and production. SE Michigan.
