Should I just get the $50 one if I'm just drying peppers from 7 or 8 plants or is it really worth a few more dollars for the better ones? They all have good reviews. Thanks

I am curious for the answer as well...

Harbor Freight has 1 for $25 btw adnewr.  Just found out about it from a friend.

I love my FD60...real nice to be able to control the temp and dry low if you want to save some color. 48 bones on Amazon is worth it

I have one of the same cheap POS and I cant freakin kill it
When I start my jerky runs during deer season I use this wonderful turd
20+ runs of non stop round the clock crankin and the thing never gives up
It keeps right up with my FD60's(I have 2)
WM/POS hasnt failed in over 6yrs during beat down seasons(50+lb per season)(Yes I love jerky . . . . )

Best damn company door price Ive ever received

Mine was a walmart special, one temp works fine for me. About 35 and I run it all the time.

Already been stated, depends on how much you need and want to dry!

I have several of these

Nesco Snackmaster Pro Food Dehydrator FD-75A

but mainly use these now...

Excalibur 3926TB Food Dehydrator, Black

For anything but hobby drying get one of these.  http://www.excaliburdehydrator.com/ You will NOT regret it!!   We put up over 30 2Qt jars of various herbs and veggies last year.   Going to double that this year.   My favorite is dried sweet onions!   Eat them like potato chips!!!!   We did 40# last year.....

They make damn fine beef and turkey jerky also. If you use the hamburger type meat mixtures you can add some peppers to "spice" things up a bit. Then I use my vac sealer and freeze. That way you can have some about anytime you want...

The Nesco units are very nice for inexpensive dehydrators.

I have a four tray FD-80 that I used to dry about 3/4 of a 35 gallon trashbag full of peppers last year.
