How often should I feed?

Hey everybody!

This is my first year growing from seed and I'm basically following what I've learned from Khang Starr's videos. I'm growing indoors to start with the double cup method. My impression from Khang's videos is that he's feeding hydroponic nutes as often as the plants soak up the liquid, roughly every day. Seems like a lot to me and I don't want to overfeed, so what're y'all's thoughts? I'm using Fox Farm Grow Big 3-2-6 as well as Osmocote 14-14-14 pellets.

Thanks in advance!

If the soil is pre-fertilized, the nutrients in the soil should last for a month or so if you just water them with regular water when they need it. After they become bigger, you can start using 25% of the fertilizer strength of the hydroponic dosage for the soil.

When the plants grow much bigger and starts to form flowers, you can give them 50% of the of fertilizer strength of the hydroponic dosage for the soil at max.

The most important thing is to use the right dosage for the plants, not how often you should feed them. If the dosage is mild enough, you can feed them with every watering session in the growing season and thus get no overfeeding problems at all.

Thanks a lot. Focusing on dosage seems like great advice. I've just started watching Khang's 2016 series (not sure how I'd missed it before) and he's indeed feeding every day. My plants just moved out of seed starting trays today so I think I'm still a ways off from needing to worry too much about feeding.

Now the big thing is to remember to not overwater the chilis when they are really small, because that everyday feeding word got me really worried all of a sudden. You normally only feed them as often as they need more water when the soil have dried some between waterings.

using water soluble hydro nutes every watering is great.

Idk why you need both nutes and fertilizer slow release pellets... pick one.
