I've done something similar with a (new) metal trashcan and a turkey. It works quite well!

Uhmmm...those tins look galvanised or at least have a synthetic liner that's gonna burn off and has no where to go but into the chicken, mmm toxic chix indeed

This is a common method to cook UNDHIYUN , a curry in Gujarat India. Real Undhiun is a mix veg cuury cooked in an inverted earthen pot after burrying in earth and lighting a fire on top.

You would have to leave some old paint in the can to add flavor to your meat along with the melamine/partical board you use for your fire
