seeds How to remove the seed's "Hat"

I read these today and thought I would go try them. My hand get to within 3 inches of the first one and my wife apparates from behind me and yells "Dont touch them, leave them alone, they'll do their own thing in good time."
I swear she wasnt there when I went outside...

I've got a few already that need delicate surgery to survive:( I use needle nose scissors and just cut a small bit of the casing edge and the rest will usually fall off. Also, its best to do this before drinking:)

Black Scorpion Tongue?

Is that the coolest thing since the 7 POT,....... or a name made up by pepper joe?
They're not that cool, look it up on TCM.

That is what I figured Omri. Thanks.

Not the bastardized lovechild of a Black hungarian, devils tongue and a trini scorpion after all.;)

i ussually go the misting/surgery route but last year after someone posted a picture of one they left on i decided to leave a couple alone too. they figure themselves out, contort into funny positions and just grow around it. and yet the urge to take them off myself is still overwhelming...

Leave them alone, the bugger will come off.

If you get so completely fussed over a seed casing, you will be ballistic before they flower.

This seems insane, but it works 90% of the time. SPIT on the seed casing. Someone on another forum told me this. It really does soften it. The enzymes in our saliva breakdown the seed hull. Just don't let others see you doing it. :)

Can this principle be applied on other things in life which arent cooperating, or are being difficult?

A condom over the seedlings should get the humidity up so the hats come off. It would be nice that they finally come to use too.

It seems mildly ironic that you would use a condom to help some young form of life grow. There are many things that could be said right now, but I think I should just back away slowly, and not make eye contact with the dirty jokes that are floating around me right now...
