Hey Mike, welcome. Sorry to hear about your plant. Post some pictures in the growing forum and you'll surely get lots of advice.
Also there's a pepper sale coming up at Cal State Fullerton that might interest you. More info here. I'm going to be heading there to fill in some gaps in my growlist. They are going to have a ton of types, a list of which is downloadable here.
Cheers!
Rob
Hey Rob,
I checked out the pepper sale today and was a little disappointed. I picked up a healthy looking Bhut Jolokia and a Trinidad Scorpion (my girl grabbed me a second TSP), as well as a kind of measly looking "Carribean Red" (supposedly an "improved" habanero) and a Jamaican Yellow.
Of the peppers as-hot-or-hotter than habaneros, the pickings were slim. I wanted a Fatali but there were only 2 left, both were tiny and appeared to be 75% dead. Everything looks overwatered, and it looks like there may be some powdery mildew on the Scorpions.
All the tomatoes looked really nice, as did most of the lower heat hot peppers and the sweet peppers. But whether it's the climate or lack of know how, I'm not very impressed with their high heat peppers. None of the habs looked half as good as the one I got at Home Depot last year.
EDIT: Since i got the peppers durring my lunch while running in between court in San Bernadino snd court in West Covina, I didn't really take a close look. When i went to inspect them on the windowsill I was surprised to notice a hug angry mob of mites all over the plants, especially the bhut. I crushed as many as I could find between my fingers and sprayed with warm water, but I'll have to do some research to figure out a more permanent solution. I know the damn things are hard to combat.
