cloning hydro cloner in bucket to soil?

I have a few plants that are doing really well, and im wanting to make some clones, my question is,

1) can you use a hydroponics cloning solution, and then move them to soil? is this suggested, would the plant go into shock etc?

2) would it make more sense to take cuttings, use rooting hormone, and put directly into soil?
 
i'm no expert, but i would think as long as you get a nice root system going it won't matter. When I did some closet gardening many years ago, clones going into soil had to have a nice support system, whereas rockwool, or just plain water and rooting agents could be done in cups, or a vase. . .
 
yeah, i guess my main concern is what i read to be water roots vs soil roots. I had this issue when starting garlic in water. it rooted great, but when moved to soil, it was dead. the plants ability to update water/nuts are different from the two types of roots.

I do this everytime in the aerogarden. I use them as a starter. From seeds. And from cuttings. 90% after I transfer to soil no issues. There's the occasion that struggle but you should add that transplant shock b1. I think it is.
 
thanks for the reply. what does one use to promote root growth on vegetables like pepper plants. I have Clonex, but i dont think its for edible plants
 
Ive used Clonex before with eddibles with no negative effects.
By the time the plant fruits I doubt hardly any of whats in the clonex will be around anmore.

You could also try the powder type rooting hormone. But Ive had less sucess with these.
