Sunken stem makes me think poblano as well, but maybe from from seeds from an open pollinated plant that may have crossed (because of color and it seems TOO tapered for poblano).
thanks for the responces, I can see the logic in it being a poblano, but i also grow them and they don't normally get that large or narrow at the base. i'll try and get some better photos.
