I realy need some help

Hey guys
I need some help here,this season I haven't realy had a good grow. I decided that next season I am gonna grow some peppers I'm REALY excited about,but all of a sudden we found out my girlfriend and I will be parents soon. So I won't have the time or space to grow peppers,I can't grow them at her home where I'll be most of the time,and I can't grow them back home becaus my dad doesn't realy know how to grow peppers (shocker since he can grow almost any other plant). He tends to overwater them.
So here is my question,HOW can I grow them at home even though I won't be there much? I'll probably be home 3 times a week. So I can't water them the other 4 days. I don't know what to do.

This may be a bad suggestion, but I would vote hydro. I have all my plants at my parents house and the hydro ones are by far the easiest to look after. All watering in on a timer, just have to check nutrients every now and then.
Negatives for yourself will be that it may cost a bit more to set up, obviously if you have a kid on the way (congrats!) money might be a consideration.
 
Yeah dwc hydro is pretty easy only check it once a week.. Same with soil plants if u do drip irrigation and timer just set it and forget it.

Otherwise yeah peppers whether in the ground or pots don't need that much attention. 1 or 2 hours a week is fine.
 
Thoughts:
Use plastic pots.  Grow bags and even clay pots have their advantages, but they dry out faster.
Look into water saver pellets or google baby diaper plants or something like that.  Folk mix baby diapers into their soil to hold water.

But generally, as long as the pots are big enough every other day is often more than enough.

And thanks Ajdrew,that's actually not a bad idea,too bad I can't use dirty diapers ;) but there are some places that sell realy cheap diapers that I could use :).

Congratulations to new mom and dad!
You say you are home only 3 days, and can't water them the other 4 days. This could be exactly what the peppers need, because if you water them every day, will do just like your father - overwater them :P
Now seriously, depending also on the temps on your location, I see no problem if you will keep them growing at your home.

Lol thanks :P usually I water them 3 times a week,because here where I live it can get up to 41 degrees celcius,last year we got up to 51 degrees celcius on the one day,which was like living in hell.
So I don't know,maybe I should just show my dad how much to water and when to water,and when the time comes I'll just ask him to water when he has the time

Right, you can show him exactly what recipient to use for watering (again, depending on how many peppers you are growing), and the amount of water, or maybe set a dripping system (I don't know if you are a pot grower or garden grower).
 
Wow reading your post is like reading a post from my past. I was in the same boat as you a hair over 3 years ago. It took some time and some doing, given that I had to move to a new city twice, but I'm now back to decent growing and enjoying a 3 year old son. I did manage to grow all through the three years, but I can't say I was really successful until last year. Take some time and enjoy life While you can. Time flies by once you have kids. Congrats. I'm sure you'll figure out something that'll fit you and your soon to be family.
