Welcome and greetings from Michigan! A mid-westerner stuck in California, my heart goes out to you! Good luck with the peppers - just listen to Shane's advice on that stuff, he does pretty well. And if you happen to accidentally share any dirt on him...
 
Thanks for the warm welcome all! Apologies for the late response, been very busy with work.  I won't blame anyone in particular though. :)  I managed to transplant all the plants given to me and they are in their own respective pots.  Additionally; my balcony is looking well!  I plan to take pictures today and then I'll post them up!
