Some of the insect I come across while growing my peppers and various flowers in the yard.

Welcome to the forum. I picked up a EF-S 60mm lens for my cannon T-1 and don't get shots even close to that. Seems like when 1 area of the insect is in focus either the front or the back of it isn't??

@ LGHT - Aperture setting. What's in "focus" through the lens is not necessarily what the image is going to come out as. High F-stop = more depth of field.

Fishman10, great looking pics. I've played around with macrophotography and know how tough it can really be. Especially insects (or any other subjects) that don't hold still.

Nice pictures! I took this one last year in one of our roses.

Never had a Mantis bite me and I have had up to 10 at a time on me. They are awesome. The fact that a good many people I know get freaked out by them encourages me some. lol.

Here's a little insight
"Fortunately, the fact is that the chance of your receiving a praying mantis [bite] are actually extremely small. Most people who have handled the insects have never gotten a praying mantis bite as they are typically non-aggressive towards humans. Although praying mantis' are predatory creatures who will eat almost anything smaller than them, they are typically uninterested and unthreatened by humans and those humans who do end up with a praying mantis bite were usually doing something unkind of that particular praying mantis and therefore probably deserved it."
